  1. The answer is yes. If a catastrophic emergency is declared the President can declare martial law and suspend elections until resolution. Under the way it is currently written Congress would be powerless to prevent the dictatorial usurping of power by President. This is the result of an expansion of the War Powers Act by Bush.

Here is a link to actual directive. If you are interested in interpretation by different groups you can search on the internet as it is numerous.

  2. Yes, but it gives McCain an edge because he is an experienced politician, able and ready to continue the fight, with Bush as an adviser along with Chaney. ( Don`t care for those two, myself)

Obama, would not have a chance. His lack of perceived experience may do him in. Plus who would be his advisers?

  3. GWBush cannot do that. Only Congress can in case of emergency, like a world war outbreak, or deadly virus or other natural disaster.

  4. Absolutely.  Under the recently revised War Powers Act, Bush can declare "marshal law" and suspend the election indefinitely, thereby installing himself as the first King of the US.

  5. In May of 2007 President Bush gave himself new powers without congressional approval.  One of these powers is the ability to declare Martial Law.  If, for example, there were a terror attack or a war with Russia, then President Bush could declare Martial Law.  This would delay the November election indefinitely.

  6. None exists, There was an election in 1940 and 1944. Know what was going on then?

  7. Nope.  He cannot delay the election for any reason.

Even during WWII (1944) there was a Presidential election.

  8. The only way there would be a delay is if one of the two candidates died.

  9. YES. Remember World War II.  They had elections then.  You hipster doofus.

  10. Another middle school drop out I see.  If we can have an election in the Civil War, World War 2 and Vietnam, what pray tell made you think we could cancel one now.

  11. don't even kid around about that c**p.

the national guard (i think) had martial law practice in some town in California.

maybe the were prepping for mccain's 'only one term'

.. geezus can you imagine?????????    holy christmas.

good gawd.  lil bush is a sneaky...  *mumble mumble*

EDIT - see this is the c**p lil bush has done that no one has paid any attention to.  friggin scary man..

  12. No the election will go on.  The only thing that could concievably delay it is a major catastrophe here at home that prevented people from getting to the polls, but this would only delay it a few days and would have no effect on when the new President takes over in January.
