My best friend Sam is on probation,

and her probation officer told her to clean her room.

I told her not to because that's not his decision, but she said he can make her !

Can he ?

  1. That was quite brave of you, seeing Sam is the one that will go to jail and not you.

I usually suggest not hanging around with people on probation, but in this case, Sam is the one that needs a new friend.

  2. h**l yea they can, haha. They can make your life h**l if they wanted to. I remember those days!!

  3. poor sam

  4. It does seem odd that a probation officer would demand that of anyone other than his or her own children. Is Sam living under the PO's roof? Then he's her landlord. He might have the recommendation that Sam clean her room in the context of some other statement. Other than saying she should clean her room, has the PO taken any steps toward compelling Sam to clean her room?

  5. Yes.

  6. Yes

  7. Yes.  I volunteer for Youth Court, and we can assign household chores as a discipline, and the parent has to acknowledge whether or not the child is doing them.  If the child isn't doing them, their case goes back to juvenile court and the punishment will be far worse.

You need to quit telling your friend to defy what law enforcement tells her.

  8. On of the conditions your friend agreed to is to allow the probation officer into her house to inspect. If it is messy enough where he can not do a thorough inspection, then he can order it.

  9. Wrong advice to give your friend; See in return for not going to jail your friend agreed to be on probation and must obey all reasonable demands from her PO officer, if she does not like the deal then she can choose to do her time locked up,

  10. Yep, right at the front of the book, taking First Place among all laws and conditions of probation is the statewide admonition that you MUST clean your room.  Do you realize how many people are currently sitting on Death Row for failure to clean their rooms?  This a a social problem of epic proportions and the Law must get tougher about it.  Why, next we'll have dirty dishes in the sink, and worse, unwashed cars on Sunday.  Where will it all end???
