Can a provisional driver be added to insurance?

i am learning to drive and bought a car. i priced insurance and its very expensive, i was wondering if i was allowed to be added to my parents insurance as a named driver bearing in mind that im a provisional driver

  1. You could be added to your parents' insurance if their insurer allows it (some have age restrictions) BUT

    It would only allow you to drive your parents' car - it would NOT allow you to drive your own car AND

    If you tried to add your car onto your parents' insurance then their insurers will rate it on your age and experience  anyway - so you won;t earn any no claims bonus.

    Insurers were not born yesterday.


  2. Yes you can but expect it to be expensive.

    Not all insurers accept provisional drivers so try a broker first.

  3. yes you can,but be aware any mishaps by yourself will lose your parents no claims bonus.

  5. yes there s no reason why not, we did this with my daughter when she was learning to drive so we could take her out to practice in our car between lessons, it will be quite expensive but shop around for the best deal
