You bet it can andrew!

It all depends on what kinds of wires your running from your Ps3 to the tv you want to hookup.  If you're hooking up to an old tube tv, with standard 480 definition, then the cable that came with your Ps3 should work perfectly, assuming the tv has at least one free input.  Most HD tv's also have standard inputs that can use that very cable that came with your Ps3.  

However, when you choose to experience HD on a 720p or higher television set, then you will have to purchase a HDMI cable from a retail store (or any buddy that has one :P), which usually run around 100$ for a quality one.  That will plug right in the back of your Ps3, and go right into the HDMI input of the tv!

yea almost but if you want it to be in high definition and use its blu-ray dvd your tv has to be 1080i

yehh mate you can. you can even hook it up to a pc moniter and get hd . but it requires wires and adapters. if your getting a ps3 it does make about 50% difference on quality on the av its like a ps2

Every T.V with A.V, Component, or HDMI ports. (HDMI cable sold separately at high price). Don't know if they sell coaxial cables for the PS3 but I doubt it.
