I am currently seeing a family doctor who is prescribing me 3mg of klonopin a day and I am still extremely anxious and having panic attacks. I will be seeing a psychiatrist soon. Thanks for your help :-)

  1. 6 mg. of Klonazepam a day is a high dose.

The doctor would probably consider putting you on another medication that might work better.  You might think about seeing a psychiatrist for your anxiety because they specialize in treating anxiety and other problems.  Good Luck.

  3. Yes, 6 mgs is possible. The psychiatrist will probably want to add another med, also.

  4. A psychiatrist, not a psychologist or counselor, is a Medical Doctor and if licensed can dispense prescription drugs.  I haven't looked up the maximum recommended dosage but if the law allows it the shrink can do it.

Good luck with your problems.  I have been clinically depressed since about 1984.  These things are no fun.  I don't have panic attacks but I do spend a lot of time trying to decide if jumping off of this or that would kill me or if it would only bust me up real bad.  I'm glad you have found something that helps a little bit anyway.  All the medications I have tried have only made me appear better to others.  They don't help ME a bit; they just make me a great prevaricator.  I can lie to your face, tell you how great I feel while the whole time feeling like a doormat.  Like I said, none of this stuff is any fun.
