Yes, also cukes and most melons.  If you look at the vines closely you will see fine hair like growth on them.  It will or can cause a mild irriatation.  Usually a mild itch that lasts a few minutes.

it is possible that you may have an allergy to something in that part of the plant, or if you have dry skin it could of been the golden bee bee that set off an irritation.
