  1. Fabulous316, I love the look of a labrador retriever. They are so cute.

  2. genetics. the parents were probably a pure golden and a black lab.ur dog has both in him from each side.

  3. yes depending on the colour of the parents  or  back down the bloodline more

  4. Yes it may be possible if it it's parents were of two different colors.

  5. Actually no. Cause even if the puppy's parents colour are different the puppy is born only a single colur either of the pop or the mom.

  6. Yes.  The breed standard allows for a small amount of white on the chest.  And it is not uncommon for labs to have white markings on their toes, although this is not desirable.  Beyond that, there are several "mismarks" and genetic throw backs that do show up from time to time, although these are not accepted in the show ring.

Here is a good website with some pictures of mismarked labs, including brindle, black and tan, and mosaic.  http://www.woodhavenlabs.com/mismarks.ht...

  7. only two colors that are acceptable is if its a black lab, it can have a little white mark on the chest.

other than that, no its not standard.

for who ever gave me the thumbs down, look it up.

  8.     any of the 3 colors of Lab can have a small amount of white but a lab can not be blk and tan like a Doberman. The yellow and chocolate often have shadings. The Labrador Retriever coat colors are black, yellow and chocolate. Any other color or a combination of colors is a disqualification. A small white spot on the chest is permissible, but not desirable. White hairs from aging or scarring are not to be misinterpreted as brindling. Black--Blacks are all black. A black with brindle markings or a black with tan markings is a disqualification. Yellow--Yellows may range in color from fox-red to light cream, with variations in shading on the ears, back, and underparts of the dog. Chocolate--Chocolates can vary in shade from light to dark chocolate. Chocolate with brindle or tan markings is a disqualification.

  9. Labs come in 3 accepted colors. Black, Chocolate and yellow.

Mismarks in the coats just means the dog has a fault in the coat.  Mismarks come in all kinds of different markings.  Like a bit of white on their feet, commonly called socks, to a big white blaze on their chests.  However there should be one coat color for the dogs body.

What kind of odd marking are you seeing on your dog???
