Can a "smell" leave an "imprint"...like physical bodies do?

I keep seeing others talking about smelling things that are associated with people who have passed on. Some posters on here say that when some see ghosts/spirits and sounds. (footsteps etc.) it's an "imprint". Is it the same with smells? Can smells leave an imprint like a physical body does?

  1. Yes I think it does...

  2. Smell is associated with memory, so it's possible someone can associate a particular memory with a certain smell or vice versa, but there is no reason to think the smell exists objectively and independently of that particular person.

  3. h**l, yes!! When my dad came out of the bathroom. . .it is STAMPED forever in everyone's minds!!

  4. No smell doesn't exist and thus can't leave an imprint or anything else.

  5. everything and everyone has its own scent, just like everyone have their own aura, (a color of their energy surrounding their body) its their signiture and i know if i get on tomorrow there will probally be a few asking better details on auras but heh, this aura leaves a feeling, and sometimes the energy of someone can reside in object for years if they had it long enough

  6. scent is one of the greatest accesses to the memory. so if someone smells something the reminds them. thats it. it is i guess like you said an imprint. definately an imprint in the memory. but say the smell lingers in an area then yes i beleive so. basically the same thing.

  7. yes

  8. In theory, yes. If you do research into the ghost hunting craze, you will find that it is being taught that different odors are associated with hauntings. One famous ghost hunter at the time of the printing of the book I have that he wrote had no actual experience with seeing a ghost, but his only experience was that he smelled an odor associated with the ghost.

Personally I only know about ghosts by my experience and I did see a full body apparition and it spoke. I have smelled odors, but I am not too quick to associate odors with a haunting. That is just me. Evey one has their own ideas on this.
