  1. I have used an umbrella to protect my skin from the sun for years.  On my face I still use a sunscreen because I am paranoid about wrinkles, but I don't use any block on my body.

If the fabric is opaque and dark not many UV rays can get through because it's  a  physical block.

  2. Yes it will, it can also be a parasol.

  3. If you ever visit Singapore, you will see that all the Chinese girls use an umbrella to protect them from the sun. Yes, for them, being pale is a sign of beauty. They stay away from the sun. And since Singapore has a maritime equatorial climate, the rain usually comes after 5 PM and the same umbrella protect them from the rain. In other words ... they always have their umbrella open; sun or rain!

... Incidentally, I am myself Norwegian and ... I just enjoy any sun we can get here, up north! :-)

  4. Is the umbrella equipped with UV protection? IF so, you should get 90% protection, if not, then you may be subjecting yourself to harmful UV rays. You can buy an umbrella equipped with UV protection for about $25.

  5. Yes I think it does. People at the beach are always laying under umbrella's.

  6. Really? You walk 45 minutes to work and 45 minutes back? I think you should find a closer job instead of buying an umbrella.

But yes, it will block it out
