  1. you can have LINE TAP FITTNGS installed so it can be recharged

  2. Sounds like a dirty condenser or a bad condenser fan. Pull the plate of the front of the frig at the bottom. I'll bet it's full  of hair, lint and fuzz balls. You need a slim brush to get in there. You can buy a condenser cleaner brush for about  $6.00.

Make sure that the condenser fan at the back behind the condenser is running when the compressor is running. If not the fan is bad.

Freon does not go bad. A tapline valve would be used to charge it but its a critical charge a you could very easily blow the compressor by over charging.

I almost know by what u say its a dirty condenser. 30 yrs expierence.

  3. Yes the repairman can sweat a schroder valve where needed. However it is 10yr.s old so it is probably weak valves on your compressor and adding more freon won't help. Then there is the cost. The freezer should be 0 degrees.

  4. HVAC Tech.:  Your mullion is probably blocked with ice. The mullion is the passage for air from the freezer to the refrigerator. Could be "mullion heater" is burned out. Or "defrost timer " has quit. Or someone changed the cooler/warmer setting for the refrigerator. After 10 yrs. I'd think you'd want a new one. With the system still welded shut how could the freon get out? If it did that would mean rust has eaten into it making it NOT worth repair.....but yes it could be recharged. however that is the least likely cause of your problem.

  5. May be your thermostat
