Can a relative of a person who died in the US more than 50 years ago recover the estate it has left behind ?

A relative of a person who died in the US more than 5O years ago was given a court order in her country to be the admistrator of the estate this person has left behind. This person was believed to have left a a huge amount of assets in the US. Will this relative still be able to recover any asset even if it took so many, many years to claim that she has the sole authority to this inheritance.

  1. yes unless another relative has already claimed it.

    and if someone has been paying the taxes on the property.

    you need to contact the attorneys office that handled the will and you should have some paperwork provin you know own it.


  2. 50 years is beyond the statute of limitations for marketable title and probate for almost every state. Almost impossible without a long and expensive court process. Start with the county probate clerk where the property is located, and a local probate atty; a good one.
