Can a rent place like colortyme make you pay for somthing that was an accident?

the reason why iam nasking my 19 year got an laptop, from colortyme,rent place and my 15 year old drop it and it shatter the screen. and it has an warrenty on it now they want to make her pay for it.can they do that?

Absolutely.  When the 19 year old got it, the rental agreement states she's responsible for any damage that happens to it.  Oops I dropped it is NOT something a "warranty" covers.  

You drop it, you buy it.

Read the rental contract.

There is probably language that says you are responsible for any damage to the equipment.

A warranty does not cover you dropping the computer.

Why should Color Time incur the loss of the lap top computer when your 19 year old agreed to be responsible for the equipment and you 15 year old was negligent in the handling of it and dropped it?  If you rent a car and return it with damage - you will be held responsible for that damage - regardless if you caused the damage and regardless if you meant to or not. It it was damaged while in your possession - you are responsible.
