Waiter served customers with good service, the "idiots" walk out on their bill without paying. The restaurant takes the waiter's earned tips from the night to cover the cost of the "idiot's" bill. What if a car dealership did this to a car salesman? $30,000 dock of his pay?

  1. Thats why I always asked for a credit card for people that I didn't trust, that was till a customer complained and I was dismissed.I had a customer take off and not pay and I got stuck with the bill.I waited for this customer to return,I walked down the street trying to see if I recognized him.I wanted to beat the h**l out of him.I got stuck for the whole bill which was 28 dollars

  2. If you are also the cashier, as in server banking, you are responsible for collecting payment.

If you fail to do so, management can require you to pay the bill.

Some restaurants will forgive you if it's obviously a premeditated dine and dash, but if it's negligence on your part (like you didn't bother going back to the table to collect), then you're responsible.

Sucks, I know. Don't be afraid to be up front (but polite) with customers about collecting on a tab. Most people won't be insulted. Some people really do just forget.

  3. If the table is your responsibility then yes, it's a business after all.

BUT not all restaurants work this way. It depends on the manager, but you will get into trouble.

Best thing is... don't let your table walk out without paying!

  4. thats how it works in the restaurant business. Your respnsible for your tables. not all restaurants will have these rules but many do
