  4. Yes, it can be connected to a laptop just like a desktop computer.  You can also use the laptop (if it has a wireless signal) as a router as well, and broadcast the signal out to other computers.

  5. If it's a router/wireless access point then you should be able to connect wireless to it right out the box.  If it's simply a router then make sure you don't have it connected to the aux or console port and you should be ok... althought the first instance is probably your situation.

Any computer that has either wireless 802.11a/b/g or wired RJ-45 ethernet ports can be connected to the router. A laptop will work plugged in to the router with an ethernet cable, and it will also work if it connects to the router wirelessly.
