Question:

Can a ruger super blackhawk 7 1/2 fit into a ruger vaquero holster? or a super redhawk holster?

i have a super blackhawk 7 1/2 " 44. hard to find nice holsters with good prices. but for redhawk and vaquero, there are several. can my gun fit into one of their holsters?

it appears the super blackhawk and the vaquero have a similar design.

  1. Blackhawks and vaqueros should be interchangable.

    Super Blackhawks however are beefed up more so there very well can be fitting issues.

    Go on Midwayusa and you can single out holsters designed to specifically fit your super blackhawk 7 1/2.

    As already said, a lot of custom holsters are very very tight and can't even hold the revolver they are made for. so definatly check reviews before ordering in a catalog/online.

    And there are universal nylon revolvers that are cheaper. Uncle Mikes would be the most common example.


  2. You pretty much answered your own question. . . .

    The Blackhawk and Vaquero ARE almost identical other than the grip frame, so a Vaquero holster for a long barrel should fit your Blackhawk just fine.

    As to the Redhawk holster, there are many 'universal generic' holsters that will fit revolvers and autoloaders of similar size & shape, no matter who the manufacturer may be.

    It always helps to trial fit any holster before purchase, as expensive as leather goods are nowadays.
