Can a seedling live without its cotyledons?

  1. A seedling would probably not survive without its cotyledons as being the "first leaves" they are involved in the first photosynthesis and energy conversion/utilization.  


  2. If the seedling is not large enough to make enough food to survive on, then it will die without its cotyledons.
