Can a server problem cause delayed or no e-mails for days?

In other words, can it prevent someone from being able to access their e-mail system so they can e-mail people?

  1. Yes it can. It *shouldn't* take days to repair but it has happened. If you can rule out a problem with your own computer or Internet connection, raise h**l with your email provider.


  2. Yes. But with a major mail provider it should not, they normally have standby servers to use if a main server fails or needs maintaining.

  3. Yes, that is possible.

    Based in the rfc compliant a mailserver must be configured to try to send the emails many days until it drop it.

    Other delaying reasons can be,  network problem, spam system, etc
