Can a singer sewing machine bought in US be converted to standard three pin plug used in UK?

  1. A US Singer machine is designed to run on 105-120 Vac. The line frequency (50Hz or 60Hz) doesn't matter. You will need to drop your 240 volts to the above. (although check to see if it is a multi voltage machine and can be set for 240 Vac) Once the voltage issue is resolved, an adapter can be used to match your wall outlet - or you can cut off the original plug and replace with a local style.


  2. Possibly.  Generally electronic and computerized machines are not happy with another power source than the one it was designed for.  Some are designed to operate on several different voltages and Hz. Drop a note or call Singer with the model number and they'll be able to tell you easily.
