Can a single straight man adopt a little girl?

A neighbor (single male age 34 dentist) wants to adopt a little girl after years of watching my children. But is this allowed?

  2. Most likely so. He would need to go through a homestudy process, during which I'm sure his motives for adoption would come up, but if the social worker saw no problems with the home, he wouldn't automatically be denied adoption just because of his status as a single man.

    Some private adoption agencies do not allow single parents of either gender to adopt, but state foster care generally does. If he really wants to adopt and his homestudy goes well, he should be able to.

  3. He'd have to find a worker who wouldn't have a problem with it. Some would...  but Daddys can raise daughters.  

  4. Why would it matter if he was g*y or not?  Are g*y men suddenly pedophiles?

    Suggest foster care to him.  He could even foster to adopt.

  5. even if he was g*y I would think he could it's just about going to the right offices and finding his new daughter. they may prefer him to have a son because of female issues but he'd probley just prove that there is someone that will be around to help her with those things
