Can a single unmarried man adopt a child?

with reference to the question by dinesh as to adopting a child, either boy or girl, as an Indian, will the Indian law permit to adopt a child at the first place? and if yes does it have an implication that the parent should not get married after adopting a child?

in india a single man is not allowed to adopt baby gal or gal child however u can adopt a boy but its lil difficult its all the authority wants to know whether a person willl be able to nurture the child thats all. but a gal child is not permitted for sigle boys to adopt.  I welcome ur such anice thoughts God Bless You

According to law, a unmarried man cannot adopt child.

Even a married single man also can't adopt a child.

its tuff but before taking any decission consult with ur parents or elder person u know closely ..

It would be harder through an agency.  I believe your best chances would be to adopt an older child, or one with some higher needs through the foster care system.  I know there are single men who have adopted from the foster system before.  Check adoptuskids.com

Try being a "Big Brother" of foster parent first.  That should help your case.

I don't know Indian law, but, why would you not get married?

Doesn't every child deserve two parents?

That's why I was given away, or at least that's the line they fed my mother.

absolutly!!! all the children in my foster family are adopted. and the child i am going to have any day now will be adopted as well.

in my personal experiance, the best place to go through to adopt a child is an orginization called new beginnings. it is a christian based organization. all you have to do is go to church, it does not matter what religion you are.  these people that work here are special and are a private orginization. they run completly off of donations.

give them a call and see what they can do. the number to the office that i go through is 662-842-6752. if they cant help you they will find somebody who can.
