  1. Yes, it can get a lot better over time. Sometimes the steroid "block" shot will help, but sometimes it doesn't.

  2. yes with an operation to move it back into place.

  3. A "slipped" disc is actually a rupture of the covering of the disc, and the squooshy inner part of the disc poking out.  They don't slip.

The surgery removes that part of the disc that is pushing on the spinal cord and causing symptoms.  Sometimes they take away a bit of bone to make more room for the spinal cord and nerves that come off the spinal cord.

Frequently, before resorting to surgery, a series of epidural steroid injections may be tried to reduce inflammation of the irritated nerves.

  4. The best treatment for a slip disc is to go to pain management and get a cortisone shot, then you will have instant relief for up to 6-11 months. However you can then also do light excercises or also do physical therapy to help heal the slipped disc the disc will never be 100 percent yet you can repair some damage by treatment.

  5. You can help the problems of the slipped disc by doing lots of strengthening exercises to your core. Exercises to help your abdominals, lower back and glutes (bum muscles) will help along with lots of flexability work to the said area's. It must be done religiously but i would recommend seeing a doctor and physiotherapist before embarking on any such exersise regime. good luck
