I am 19 years young and have been smoking for 1 year. I haven't been doing much running and my ship date is 11 days away. I went from a pack a day to 3-8 a day. 1 week ago I quit cigarettes but still smoke about 2 or 3 black and milds a day.

I'm only worried about the running. I know before smoking i did miles in 7:40 at high school and that was not trying my hardest. I would put all my effore into boot camp, but will my lungs be able to handle it? (I know i can't smoke and boot camp and I'm using at it as my chance to quit for good)

  1. of course not, smokers are not allowed in the military, drinkers also are very rare in the military.

P.S. if you are old enough to buy cigs then you are g*ddamn old enough to know better cool guy

  2. i guess it really depends on you physical shape...but 1 week isn't much time...

I think you could do it, but it would be very rough for the first month or so

  3. A smoker can make it through any training they can throw at you. It is just a little more difficult is all. Two or three cigarettes per day you wouldn't even notice.

  4. I was in the Navy and went through what was then 13 weeks of basic. Smoked every day, you can you know. You have time off in the barracks and they usually have the smokem if you can light on.

  5. Yeah, it will probably suck at first, but I know plenty of people that went through basic training as smokers and did fine.  In fact, I think a lot of them are smokers.

If you pass the entrance requirements and are fit enough to join then you should have no problem..

  8. Sure it may be tougher but plenty of smokers have done it but try to stop smoking.

  9. My ex husband and half his friends made it through basic training at the age of 22 and they all smoked.
