  1. Water Rats can.

  2. Snakes head for water. A woman just down the road from me had a red-bellied black snake in her bathroom - it had come through a tiny gap in the basin piping. When she yelled, it quickly disappeared back down the same route, but it is almost certainly still in there somewhere. Not quite the toilet but pretty close. A red-bellied black isn't deadly but its bite would make you very sick.

  3. its the rats you need to be careful of,they get everywhere, and they are on the increase world wide.

  4. Yes.

  5. Its not only possible, its happened with me. However I was living in the bush in Australia and its likely the snake went down for a drink or to keep cool.

It would be very unlikely as it would most likely drown trying to navigate its way through the piping system. The only way you would find one is if it went through your toilet and stayed in that area. So unless you have a snake in your house, you are pretty safe.

  6. Dave S. has that something special about  his ablutionary sittings ...guess you have to exude bum snake oil perfumes

  7. Some snakes can swim but its more likely that a snake has crawled in and is hiding there just as Dave S has said.

  8. Sure, why not.  You could have a cover missing on the clean out pipe in the yard, the snake crawls in seeking refuge from a hot day.  There is not always standing water in the sewer pipes, in fact unless water has been used recently, there shouldnt be hardly any water at all.  And the toilet is really the only place a snake could emerge, as anything else in the house would have a drain with grates.  Definitely possible

  9. Yes. Even if you are unfortunate enough not to be in Australia. It happened to me. I caught it in this big net that I have kept handy in the bathroom ever since I saw that programme about alligators (or was it crocodiles) living in the sewers etc.

I gave it a really good wash with some warm water and Fairy Liquid outside in the garden. Then I hosed it down with some fresh water. I lived on my own until Wriggly came. He/she is friendly, brightly coloured and has this big, fine-filament hood round his/her head.

He/she hisses a bit now and then but who cares ?

    He/she's nice.
