  1. My answer off hand would be no. If you only spent 4 years active duty, your inactive reserve time would be the next 4 years and your military obligation would be over. If you make a career out of it and stay 20 years you'd be subject to recall until the 30 year mark. Recently discharged are the most likely to be recalled to active duty.

  2. If you are in the reserves you can be recalled.  If you are completely discharged from any military affiliation, you cannot be called unless they change the laws.

  3. Who knows nowadays, with the G.W. Bush administration unimpeachably doing what it wants.  It USED to be that after a 4 year tour of duty, you were committed to the Reserves for another 2 and then you were unindebted.

  4. If you're lower enlisted and served less than 8 years active duty or the equivalent of it, you can be called back on Inactive Ready Reserve (IRR).

IRR is part of every enlistment contract and something that recruiters just happen to leave out.

During the early phases of Gulf War II, approximately 5,600 Army personnel were called up through IRR, and it's still going on.

In March '07, Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates approved the recall of 223 Infantry, Armor, and Artillery personnel, just to give you an example.

    Here's more info on IRR:

  5. In the first contract you signed it basicly states you can be recalled at any time when the country need you MOS or specialty. In the event of WAR which is what we have now you can be called until the age of 65 or diabled. You see it is simple you were trained and now a days not drafted, so yes they can recall you if they need you, you can however negoiate rank and pay to benefit you.

  6. My understanding is that most sign an 8 year contract. 4-active duty and 4-inactive reserve, then you are 100% civilian again. There would have to be a full on draft for a person who is more than 4 years out of their standard contract to be forced back in.
