  1. From strictly an engineering standpoint, it would be best to record the original audio with its full dynamic range.

    But today, many people are more concerned with having their music LOUD, rather than having it with its full brilliance.  For them, a degree of audio compression allows the quieter passages to come through, with only a minor inconvenience of reduction in the level of the loudest segments.

    So if it's volume you want, add some look-ahead compression.  If you want the highest fidelity, then burn it as-is.
