  2. The more info the better? Hmmm...could write a novel.

It really depends on where the IP address has been entered. If this is statically assigned on your network card, either wireless or wired, the simply Right Click "My network places", choose Properties, right click an available network connection, and in the section "This network connection uses the following items" scroll onto "TCP/IP" and double-click to open its property page.

This is where you change it for a network card.

If it's on a router, then navigate to the router's homepage via a web-browser (being the standard method), and under the option "Internet Access Setup" the "PPPoE/PPPoA" and the option will be available here.

Most systems these days default to DHCP. Unless a DHCP server changes its address pool, you will typically almost always end up with the same IP address - dependant on how long you leave it off for, and whether or not the provider is using IP to MAC address mapping. A DHCP server is used to automatically assign any type of IP address ranging from DNS to WINS to Gateways and much more so an administrator doesn't have to go around manually changing addresses to suit changes to vital services in the network.

Really, it all depends on what IP address exactly you want to change. If your ISP provided you with an address when you joined them, then it would be within the router/modem and you would use the relevant interface/software to make those changes. There aren't any other details about what you want to change, so guessing could take a very long while.

    Do hope this helps though.

    Good luck.

  3. Yes- Switch off your PC, complete power outlets + the modem- disconnect it from the wall plug etc-wait for 3 minutes redo all and then start

  4. No.

static means thats your permant ip adress number.  the only way it will change is if you call your isp and tell them to change it.

even a dynamic ip adress rarely changes.  the only time a dynamic ip adress with change is when another customer, of the isp, requests a block of sequencial static ip adresses, and one of the numbers he gets happens to be yours. otherwise even a dynamic ip address will stay the same.  mine has been the same for nearly a yr now and will remail so until someone gets a staic ip adress block.

and no your IP adress DOES NOT change just because you reset your modem, even with a dynamic ip adress.  until your ip adress is given to someone else for a static ip adress, that number will remain yours no matter how many times you reset the modem, because that ip address is assigned to your modems mac address and only the isp can change it not u.

if you are talking about your network settings on your computer where you setup tcp/ip then you can tell computer to optain ip address automatically or type in the numbers for a static ip address, but thats not the same thing.
