  1. Sure it can.  Make a mark at the proper length for you, and saw it off.  I've cut every wood stick I've owned for 20 plus years so that it fits my personal preferences.

  2. Yes, a stick can be cut down. It is (should be) free if you cut it yourself or at the pro shop. It only takes a couple minutes to do such. First thing to consider is what position you play and 'measure' appropriately. If you play defense, then typically you would cut it down less to allow for easier poke checks. If you are a forward, usually you cut the stick down more for better puck control and stick handling.

    * Remember it is important to not cut your stick down too much at first, you can always go back and cut it down more if it does not feel right, or when you "heel" the puck on your shot. a stick that is cut too short is a waste. Be careful of cutting your stick down

  3. You can definitely cut them down.  It takes no time.  My brother did it all the time with a coping saw.  (Haha yeah, I had no idea what that was.  I had to look it up)  http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/copi...

It takes less than a minute.  If you're going to do it yourself, make sure you mark where you want to cut it.  If you don't, it will end up being too short or too tall.

If not, just go to a skate shop.  I think they do it for free, if not, very little money.  Or you can get a saw.

  4. Indeed you can, I've done it before... And I've cut them down by too much, so beeeeware a' that

  5. I had a pro shop at a rink do it for free and it takes no time. You can do it yourself with a jig saw, circular saw or hand saw. If you do not have any power tools, a hand saw costs $6.

Just make sure you cut smaller pieces until you get it the length you like. If you cut too much, there's no going back with a wood stick.

  6. Yes. For a composite stick use a hacksaw, for a wood stick you use a standard wood saw. (crosscut is best).

You're supposed to cut a stick down to size. They're made for it. And If you own a clamp and a saw, it costs nothing. Some pro shops will do it for you, and it's usually free if you but the stick there.

It takes a minute max if you're half decent with a saw.

  7. Oh yes wooden or graphite. The best way is to buy a vice, clamp it down and use a jig saw, or a hack saw. Make sure that if its a graphite stick you buy a wooden extension to insert into the top end of the stick. Other wise if its a wooden stick, tape it up, and get on the ice.

  8. You can cut a stick down to size by yourself or a shop. Wood sticks (like yours) can be easily clamped down and cut with a standard hand saw. This will only take a couple of minutes. I would suggest you sand the top too so it doesn't have any sharp points. You could also probably take it back to place you got it and get it cut for free. If you ever get a carbon or aluminum stick you should get it cut at a shop unless you have a special saw.
