  1. No. cell phones are not covered as they are personal property not tied to the residence.

  2. You should not make small claims against your insurance.  It's for disasters not for the little things.  Besides, after your deductible, how much would you get?

  3. The person who would know for sure would be the agent or company you bought the policy through. But I am a landlord (not an insurance agent) and I do believe it is covered. The others are right though, the deductible is probably more than the cost of the phone.

  4. I also wouldnt bother filing a claim over a cell phone, even if it is possible.  The $ you spend to buy a new phone would most likely end up being much cheaper in the long run.  You wouldnt want the insurance company to cancel you or suddenly increase your renters insurance at a higher rate after such a small claim.

If you have paid on time with your renters insurance without claim, you may get bigger discounts when it comes to homeowners insurance and car insurance through the same company.

It definitely pays to stay with the same insurance company and establish history.  We have all of ours through Allstate and every year it goes down, down down....I wouldnt ever want to pay more to recover anything at this point that isnt worth 2k or more to replace.  Im saving money in the long run.

  5. did you buy insurance on the fone?

  6. Yes it covers it.

  7. It is covered but it would not be over your deductible anyways so I would not claim it.   Next time add a separate personal articles policy to cover just the phone.  That covers it if it is stolen, broken, dropped or almost anything else.  And claims do count against you, so save them for something big.
