I wanted to buy a vacation package by phone but my credit card was declined by the system. The transaction was null. After 2 weeks, I recieved the charges and I have not recieved the vacation package. The Fair Credit Billing Act gives me the right to claim to the credit card issuer but not to the agency. I think this is stealing, what Federal law is with me?

  1. Dispute the charge to your credit card company.  They will backcharge the merchant.  Voila!  All fixed.

Pick your battles.  Don't complicate your life over such small things.

  2. Try calling the vacation package compnay first and let them know that you were charged for something you didn't recieve. Generally when you threaten them with something like taking them to the better business bureau or an attorney they will relent and credit your account. If that doesn't work, Try taking them to the Federal Trade Commision, that is the company that looks into fradulent charges on credit cards by companies.

  3. first speak with the vacation company, then go directly to the credit card issuer, they will deal with the merchant.

  4. The travel agency will know that you didn't receive a travel package...easily verified in their system. If they don't want to budge clear it with your card company just to get the charges off and then report the travel agency to the BBB.

  5. Call your credit card company as a first step and demand that the charges be reversed.  Tell them that you did not receive the goods/services that you were charged for.
