  1. IF the teacher does not put a stop to it, then he/she can be dismissed from their job (aka, Fired).

In college, it is a different story as long as the professor is not teaching your class.

  2. It would be treated as a sexual harassment scenario, if the teacher could not get the student to stop using conventional communication. If the teacher is a real a**hole, they won't even try one-on-one communication they will just report the student. Myself, I feel the person needs a one-on-one conversation, to try and resolve the issue. But not everyone feels like I do.

  3. Absolutely.

When a teacher signs a contract with a local board of education, there is a clause in it stating that the board will uphold any and all laws of the state. In Georgia, where I teach, the law states that each board of education has a duty to the teachers they employ to protect them from harm.

Hitting on a person (making unwelcome advances) would be considered a form of harassment. The student, if referred, would likely be warned once with a full explanation of why the behavior is inappropriate, punished a few times, then eventually suspended then expelled.

A teacher might not report such behavior because of fear of retaliation by the student (she was hitting on me first, etc.). Because this is a career ender even if untrue, you might decide to deal with it through the parents instead.

    Hope that helps your curiosity.
