Question:

Can a stuffy nose cause an anxiety attack?

Over the last few weeks I have noticed that anytime my nose is stuffed up -- due to a mild cold, crying, etc. -- I become very panicky that I can't breathe (even though I can obviously breathe out of my mouth). I stopped taking birth control pills in July (after at least 15 years) and in May, weaned off of Lexapro. So it could potentially be the lack of meds.

Has anybody experienced this feeling of anxiety due to a stuffy nose? And if so, what have you done to help calm down?

  1. I suffer from anxiety but not due to a stuffy nose.  i guess different things effect people in different ways.  I am assuming Lexapro is  medication for anxiety so i would actually assume it is in relation to not taking the medication.  it actually takes a while for the medication to stop working and leave your body completely.
