Question:

Can a sub wired down to 1ohm wreck amp that can not go down to 1ohm?

have a kenwood KAC-8104D and the lowest the ohm ratting on the amp is 2ohm's stable and i am running 2 12" JVC GS-1200 350RMS DVC 4 ohm's. will this wreck the amp over time or should i rewire the subs straight away???

  1. Depends on how tight the protection circuitry is, in that model amplifier, just go ahead and change it to be on the safe side.


  2. IT WONT  wreck the amp it'll just keep clipping and will burn the amp fuse-out    just re-wire the sub,,,

  3. Yes you need to rewire the subs,if you don't it will burn the amp up.

  4. It could burn the fuse.. But there is very high chance of it burning the amp up too

  5. your amp would overheat and shut off(or go into safe mode). i've done it with mien and I ended up rewiring the subs.
