  1. Not a good idea. Tortoises can carry bacteria which are harmless to their own species but when transmitted to a different species, can cause illness and death. And since most of the Russian tortoises in the pet trade are wild caught, this makes it an even worse idea. This has been well documented by biologists.

  2. Mixing species is not a good idea as stated.

To add, Sulcatas get to be well over 100 pounds and Russians are very small.

  3. i have 4 Russians and 1 sulcata and they are fine together cause they come from the same type of area. but if the russians are wild caught and the sulcata isnt it would be good to use a special stuff to deworm them cause they get worms in the wild. (they sell the deworm stuff) at pet stores

  4. Madsnake and Fruticake are right on with their answers. Don't mix' em!

  5. you should never mix the different species of tortoise, they can be carriers of disease but not be effected by it but they can pass it on to other tortoises, you also have to consider that these two tortoises have different care needs and housing, they eat a slightly different diet and the sulcata needs a higher heat than a russian so the husbandary of these two tortoises is different, you also have the problem that the sulcata is going to get a lot bigger than the russian and this could cause problems and the russian could end up with shell damage from the sulcata, as they will just walk passed and bash the smaller tortoise,  so you can not house these two together

  6. i doubt there will be any like fighting but think that you have a african spurred tortoise from africa and a russian tortoise from russia so wut wouldnt botherthe sulcata could kill the russian and vice versa so yeah seperate them
