  1. Sure, and both phones make great pucks

  2. a SIM card is a SIM card.  what you have to worry about is whether or not the phone itself is unlocked.  Ideally the phone manufactures want their product to work in as many possible scenarios as possible.  Only in the US do the makers let the networks push them around.  In most other countries the actual phone is as important as the actual refrigirator that cools the food.  In other words, they don't care where you get your food as long as you buy their frig.  Also, depending on how old the phone is (2+yrs- average contract age) I have been told that if you ask them to unlock it they will for free, but Tmobile only does the phones the carry and vice versa.  That's not to say that you can't go to ATT and then visit your favorite Tmobile store and buy a prepaid SIM (or contracted SIM if that what you want).  Oh yeah... theoritically if the the phone is unlocked you could use it in any country on any "network" that works on SIM type phones (which is most do)  Yeah Verizon sucks.  By the way, did you know that the VZW global phone is a SIM phone?  Yeah.  One other thing, if you call the manufacturer they might do it for you.
