Can a t test for significance be used if the scores or frequency of the raw scores do not follow the pattern of a normal distribution curve

  2. One cannot just apply statistical tests randomly. Trying to get a silk purse out of a sow's ear leads to peril. I don't know what you're doing, but it sounds like either you need more data or more carefully taken measurements.
