Can a teen get a job at a place such as a grocery store or any other common teen employer and work only on weekends and Friday nights? I need to get a job, but I just don't have the time after school during the week. I could work Friday nights and on Saturday and Sunday, but I don't know if I would get hired anywhere if that is all I can do.

  1. if  u go part time

  2. go part time and even work on holidays and evenings when you are off school start to look now with xmas coming up you may be lucky and get a job advertise in your local shop window or try the supermarkets and local shops pop in and ask them

  3. YES,

    it is very common.

when you apply make your availability known but realize that you need to be honest and realistic. if you say i can work every Friday night, Saturday and Sunday then you need to do that. what gets minors hired is their ability to show they are mature, dedicated, dependable, coach-able, punctual, team player and communicate effectively.

if you hired to work these shifts you can ask for days off but be sure you limit those request and communicate your needs early.

employers want you to do well in school, enjoy these years in school and they understand there are activities you will want to take part in. what they ask is you keep them informed and do your best to always honor your commitments. keep a balance of work, school and free time don't over-commit to any of them and give 100% in everything you do.

  4. of course, just let the employer know you want to work weekends because of your school schedule, as a former retail manager they look for people that can work weekends because most other people don't want to work weekends.  good luck
