  1. If your wife's drinking is causing problems and you are a recovering alcoholic then it wont work , even if you never had a drink problem it's still wont work unless you are willing to live with someone that drinks to much.. I'm sorry to be so blunt about this...but I lived with that sort of problem and believe me it will only get worse. It is putting you in a terrible situation so you need to look at it for what it is. The fact you have asked this question makes it appear that you are quite aware there is a problem with alcohol in the home.

  2. i am teetotal and my husband likes to have a drink we have no problems.

  3. my wife drinks cider 3-4 times a week [4 large cans at a time],i don't drink at all  except tea and we have been married 10 years without problems

  4. Depends on how you deal with her lifestyle. Me personally? I don't drink more than a glass or two of wine a month. Mainly because I don't like the taste of alcohol. My husband on the other hand is a huge drinker. It really affects our marriage. I want him to stop or at least slow down and he doesn't see a problem. Its something you'll HAVE to work out before really committing to each other.

  5. Initially yes but not in the long run. If you don't drink you will find drunk people a complete turn off and utterly stupid.

    Been there, done it.

  6. I drink and my husband is teetotal. To be honest it has caused problems. I'm having to go to counselling to keep him happy, although I concede it is helping me. Actually it is worse if you are both heavy drinkers.

  7. Yes, hopefully you relationship id based on somethink more than drink.

  8. It is possible. I haven't had a drink in more than 20 years, but hubby does drink, though rarely to excess - maybe 5 times in that 20 years. The real trick is not to preach, but to show concern if, and when it is a problem.

  9. Of course they can, as long as neither becomes abusive. If she doesn't force booze down your throat and you don't throw away her bottles, you'll be fine.

  10. It is very difficult i think!

If she drinks socially and you don't this can cause problems for both as you don't enjoy the same things! I think it all depends on the person and how judgemental you are of each other.

  11. good on the missus, she can have a drink with me anyday lol...dont harp her, and dont let her harp you. I live with a non smoker, and as long as I dont smoke in the house, hes learnt to shut up about my disgusting habit. Relationships are all about give and take :)

personally..I wouldnt laff at her hang overs either..us drinkers dont like that, we dont laff at your saggy tea bags LOL :P
