  1. Barrell horses are usually stocky shorter horses with a quick turn of foot.  You see a lot of quarter horses doing barrels because their build makes them well suited to the pattern.

A long tall slender thoroughbred looking horse isn't exactly the barrel racer build, but I've seen some pretty small thoroughbreds and arabs, so I imagine that they could produce a decent barrel racer.

Can't really say without seeing your horse.

  2. is the horse nice & Strong looking ? & yes it is do-able but the horse would have to be some thing special to be up there with some of the best as most good barrel horses are quarter or stock horses. but there is only one way to find out & that is have ago @ it, that would be my advise to you. i work with race horses & there are a lot of big strong horses out there & don"t makes it as a racer & end up doing other things, nothing is impossible so go for it & see how you go. you wont know until you try. most horses will do what you want them to do if they are trained up the right way given the chance. so good luck with it. i think the stock horse is the best all round horse & they are a very smart horse but that is just my opinion.
