  1. Yeah it's safe, its safer than riding in the back window of an old car.

  2. Some newer trucks like mine (2004 GMC Sierra) allow you to turn off the passenger air bag, which I would do with a child in the front seat small enough for a car seat.

  3. The safest place for the car seat depends upon the positioning of the car seat.  If it is rearward facing, then placing the seat in the center is fine along as you can disable the airbag which you can do on this year model truck.   If it is a forward facing, then the safest place it next to the door in order for the top of the car seat is anchored with the shoulder strap of the seat belt.  It can be placed in the center along as the top can anchored as well which may require additional strapping.  Again, you will need to disable the air bags on the passenger side.

I would highly suggest you review the owner's manual for this model truck as it will detail the child seat requirements in the chapter on passenger safety.

Good luck and I hope this answers your question.

  4. If a child over one year old must ride in the front seat with a passenger side air bag, put the child in a front facing child safety seat, a booster seat, or a correct fitting lap/shoulder belt — AND move the seat as far back as possible.

  5. No, the airbags could kill her.
