Can a tongue piercing ruin your teeth and/or gums?

Hey guys. Last question about my tongue piercing, i swear lol. Is it possible for a tongue ring to ruin or mess up your gums and/or teeth? How? And if so, can i prevent it?

Hi :) I have my tongue pierced, and for the people on here who tell you not to get it, don't listen. If it was such a horrible idea, people in the world wouldn't be able to get it done. =P It IS possible for it to hurt your teeth if you have a metal barbell (like me) and hit it against your teeth too much. If you get one, make sure not to make it touch your teeth THAT much, kay honey? :) Hope I can help. <3
