Can a transformer oil be used as hydraulic oil and what are the effects to the hydraulic system.?

A boom truck using tellus 68 hydraulic oil was replaced by transformer oil.What is the minimum viscosity index, maximum pour point and the maximum oil temperature of a transformer oil.

no you can not use it as a hydraulic oil.

1. Chemical structure is different

2. Transformer oil is for insulation, not for hydraulic uses.

Shortly they are made for different purposes.

Transformer oilmay ignite after 250 deg. C. It can be used temporarily as hydraulic oil but, it is designed only for transformer winding cooling.
