yes either it was a very big power surge or lighting hit ur house but everyhting else would blow up to only other thing i could think of some kind of manufactuer defect might wanna look into this you might get a free new tv out of it oh wait you didnt have any  drink or any thing on it did you thay could cause it

i have heard it said that the picture tube can explode but i have not seen it happen,i have seen the fly back transformer short to ground and cause a big bang and a lot of smoke. i have heard that the picture tube is a vac-um and will implode,not explode. this will give you something to research.
