According to wikipedia, the taurine used in Red Bull is the non-animal type, unlike other energy drinks. But, that's not the most reliable source, so....

I choose to believe it until someone proves otherwise lol.

a strict vegetarian would not knowingly consume it but people have different standards- i doubt it would be approved by the vegetarian society, but i am a vegetarian (and wouldnt drink it anyway as it smells revolting) and would not condem a vegetarian for drinking it, there is a lot of hidden stuff in food that isnt strictly vegetarian, such as additives and colours, and they are not always made clear on the packaging, it is a very grey area and difficult to judge. If you are comfortable with it, then its okay of course. I know people who claim to be vegetarians but eat fish! that i do not understand but there are a lot around like that!! If you are uncomfy eating meat but okay eating products derived from meat, who is the rest of the world to judge!

A vegetarian can drink whatever they like, so can a non vegetarian. Physically it is possible.  If the vegetarian is concerned about drinking Redbull because of the taurine, it would be within acceptable vegetarian practice to consume Redbull because the taurine is synthetically produced.
