Can a virus from a song already downloaded be burned onto a cd-rom and transferred to another computer?

My friend has used Limewire to download songs and burn them onto cd-roms, but from using Limewire and downloading songs containing viruses and other bad things her computer broke down (a result of all the terrible things Limewire had subjected her computer to.)

She purchased a new computer and uploaded (or "ripped") all of the songs that she had downloaded from Limewire (the ones containing viruses) onto her new computer.

I was wondering if the songs that contained viruses and ruined her last computer could potentially "give" her new computer a virus, even though its not being transferred from computer to computer, but rather fromm computer to cd-rom to computer.

As long as the burning went well, everything was burned, including the virus, and everything was transferred to her new computer.

Limewire must be a scheme by the computer manufacturers to force people who don't know better to buy new computers.  (She could have reinstalled Windows on the old one.)

Yes...if she just copied and pasted all her songs, there's a good chance she transferred the virus also. She MUST run a scan of any CD, Flashdrive, or anything else she uses to move the songs to another pc.

A good, free, virus scanner is Avast. It monitors your downloads as the come in, and will alert you to virus's before they get on your hard drive.

An infected file that has .mp3 will not play music, it just contains the virus and is "activated" when you try to play it.

okay i am really sorry not to answer your question. and if there is some other way to contact you on here its beyond me because i dont know how to use this. haha but you said not to get him a ring, which is what alot of people are saying. just because i know him i think that he would like a ring. but since so many people are saying not to do you have any other ideas. i want something personal not something i would get him for like his birthday you know ?
