Can a virus tamper with your Backup and Restore?

You know on the Start menu in windows: when you use something in Windows, it usually shows up in the Start menu for ease of access, right?

The last time I had a virus, the Backup and Restore icon was in the Start menu. I keep sweeping for viruses, but nothing is coming up, so why is my B&R icon in the Start menu again?

  1. Start > programs > accesories > system tools > Backup & System Restore?

Those are normal and always on my start menu, although they usually don't show unless I look for them.

And a virus can tamper with most anything.

If your anti-virus program is up to date and not finding anything, I probably would not be concerned. Or get a second opinion with a free online scan here: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

  2. Ironic that one of the first things most viruses tamper with are those files because the creator often realizes this can increase the chance of the viruses survival when it has infected someone i recommend you keep your backup's on a different device then the hard drive but its sometimes troubling getting a device big enough for a full backup i recommend a external hard drive. Scan the computer with anti virus and anti spyware and when your absolutely sure its cleaned use it to restore back to when you didn't have the virus or run the backup and your files will be fine.

  3. Looks Like You Know Some Things. Look If You Had Virus And It Had Changed Your Registery Codes , To Keep The B&R Icons In Your Start menu , What's about that time? Or Some Damages ? Did You Fix them? noooooo? or maybe you had no viruses it is no problem your windows got damages if you sure they keep There and no one open them. So you have to fix your registery Windows codes not deleting viruses.

    Good Luck
