  1. Yes, driving on the other side of the road is a challenge, so be careful.  Their roads are thinner than the US, also people drive below the speed limit.

Also, the round-abouts (called rotaries here) are real challenges because you will drive opposite direction that you are used to.

  2. no. we dont have roads here....

  3. A visitor can drive anywhere as far as I know. As long as you have a licence.

  4. yep, if you have the correct Driving Licence. you dont say where your from. if your from Europe, and have a full driving licence, its ok to drive, but if your from the USA or else where you might need  an international driving licence.

i live in England, every year i go to Ireland, and i always use my British Driving Licence with no problem. But its best to check with the hire car company

  5. yes. provided they have a valid clean license they can get an international one for travelling.

  6. You can once you have your own drivers lience with you.

  7. Sure, for a limited time.  For U.S. Citizens and other non-EU citizens, one is permitted to drive with a U.S. driver's licence or non-EU licence for the duration of a visit to Ireland; i.e., as long as their status is that of tourist and not resident. Once you decide to become resident in Ireland, regardless of how long you have been in the country, you must apply for an Irish driver's license.

  17. Depends who the visitor is doesn't it?!

A or any visitor may drive but a friend who works for a solicitor who takes Galway County cases says sooo many accidents and fatalities are caused near Shannon and Rosslare by travel-tired or right-hand-side -of-road drivers or English-not-their-first-language drivers - so the question remains - CAN a visitor drive in Ireland?
