  2. Most wasps that prey on spiders sting to paralyze, not to kill. The wasp drags the paralyzed spider(s) to the nest; the young hatch and eat the still-living spider. I see this often on some rural property I own with both mud daubers and tarantula wasps.

  3. I once watched a brown spider (it was shaped like a black widow) and a wasp go at it when the wasp landed on its web.  The wasp did sting it and the spider's abdomen and stinger popped the abdomen and then the wasp managed to break loose and fly away.

  4. Jgouldin confirms what I have read.

  5. Yes.

Though there are some wasps which sting spiders to paralyse them, and then they carry the spider to their nest. They lay their eggs next to or on the paralysed spider and the maggots come out and eat it alive.

    yum.

  6. Yes, many species of wasps can kill spiders or insects with thier stinger. The cicada killer and tarantula hawk can both kill spiders or insects the same size or larger, before bringing them back to the nest to feed to thier young
