  1. I'm fighting the same problem..... a great rose, but the stems on the flowers are just not strong enuff to hold up the bloom once it opens... the buds start to swell and the stem starts to bend...... I was told to cut the plant back after it's first bloom this spring did that, and to feed it and keep it happy until it could set up another bloom.... and it did do better, but still the blooms drooped.... so I'm going to work on the soil and it's content to see what's missing.... I'll cut it back again, to stronger stems.... then get a soil test or make an old gardener's best guess.... I already tried the 'bloom food' store bought fertilizer... so this time I'll try some fish emulsion , Epsom salts and some 'super thrive' .... maybe some molasses, too....

    hey, I just found this...

"Can "weak neck" (the inability of the stem to support the bloom in an upright position) be corrected or aided?

Yes. If this is not an inherent characteristic of the particular variety, the addition of PhosPhorus to the soil can aid in strengthening the stems. Also make certain that the roses are receiving sufficient sun as shade can also cause weak stems. "

there's something for us both to try!...

  2. a rose? or a rose plant? if it is a plant yes it will they only are weak because they are very small and have only started to grow or if it is a new branch and has spikes on it and is weak leave it because it will be a hudge strong branch and wil grow more and if it is a rose and is choped off then no it won't and i don't know if it will grow stronger

  3. Make sure the Rose is receiving all the cultural inputs it needs (Full Sun 8-10hrs, Adequate Water, Good Fertility, Proper Soil pH) and keep insects, especially aphids, and disease, black spot, at low populations.  These factors often limit how well plants grow and strong they become.
