  1. 'Womens fit bikes' are part fallacy and part marketing !!!!

Ok it's unlikely that a mans saddle will suit you, chances are you will need a slightly wider one to accommodate a womans seatbones (even us men have to be careful with saddle choice).

If your smaller hands have trouble reaching the brakes and gear levers, then get some shims from your local bike shop(LBS)  above all make sure (just like a bloke) that your bike fits, again your LBS will be able to help with this.

Don't get bogged down with the WSD thing, - Its really not that crucial. (although manufacturers and dealers would disagree - for obvious reasons!)

A suitable size mans bike will do fine.

    Best of luck.

  2. Onlyme has a point there. Many bike companies through the WSD thing around like you have to believe it. Felt is a company that really surprised me. The WSD kit can be used with any size frame. If the issue is reach, get a shorter stem to move the handlebars closer to you and many companies (Shimano in particular) make shorter reach shifters for women. The seat is a matter of personal preference since eveyone's built differently. Simply get fitted at a bike shop and go from there. Good luck

  3. Sure you can. Sometimes WSD helps. Most women fit fine on most men's bikes. Sometimes WSD is a load of BS.

  4. I would imagine the top tube is too long. Although depends on your height if you were over 5' 5" you may get away with it. Go to your local bike shop and get them to measure you on bike fitting system to be sure. Also test it.

  5. Absolutely!  In fact, some women don't fit on women's models at all, like me.  If you are really petite, with narrow shoulders, short legs, small feet and hands, you may benefit from a WSD frame.  However, if you are more average in size, a men's model may be just fine for you.  The only way to really know if any bike fits you is to test ride it for a good ten miles.  Shorter cranks can always be put on the bike if your legs and feet are on the small/short side, and a shorter stem can make up for a too long top tube.  However, don't compromise and buy a bike just because you like the looks or the price; make sure it feels like a natural extension of your body.
