I have a Yorkshire terrier who is very attracted to birds, and likes to chase them. Could he be taught to live with them without trying to kill them? I am wondering because i really want a Macaw. Could it work?

  1. Birds and very sensitive 'n' stuff, y' know?

  2. I have raised both yorkies and macaws for many years and I have never had a problem.  Of course I never let them be together unsupervised and I take care to introduce my baby macaws to my dogs slowly.  Each is quick to learn that a sharp  "NO" from me discourages any attitudes.

  3. yeaa i have a yorkie and a bird to my yorkie is scared of mine especially when it falps its wings lol

  4. We have 15 exotic birds. in that bunch 3 macaws. Each a different breed but our dogs dont seem to chase them. Our macaws even walk on the ground along with the dogs. Though one of our dogs a mutt, tried to play with our military macaw just running around him and we just bought a little  tiny water gun one of those little water guns and it seemed that every time i squirted him which he does'nt like baths he was a bit discouarged about playing with him. Though macaws when they get scared or feel threatened they do have a tendency to open up their big beaks and try to bite so that alone may discouarge your dog.
